Episode 51: Back to School: Prepping our Homes
Preparing my home for back to school is one of those things that gives me so much Peace and feelings of calm. When the house is organized that means it is clean when I leave for the day. When the house is prepped for backpacks, and papers, and homework, and all the things school related our days flow much better because we all know where our things belong.

Today we are celebrating our 1 Year Anniversary of the Podcast! The Teacher Mama’s Podcast started exactly one year ago today, August 11th 2021. We are so proud of how much we have learned and beyond proud of our devotion to consistency. We have had at least one episode release each week since we have started. To be entered into our drawing - please enter the drawing (detailed in this episode) by Wednesday afternoon (August 17th 2022).

Today’s episode isn’t just a celebration - it is also a second part to a conversation about back to school. Last week we talked about various logistical things to think through with your kids prior to school starting. This week we are talking about meal planning and meal prep to get ready for back to school. We give some great tips and tricks, especially if you aren’t the biggest fan of cooking.

Have you ever stopped to think about the reason behind whatever it is you are doing? For example: why might you sit down to watch TV? Is it because it brings you joy? Is it because you are bored? Is it because it is a habit to do so after supper? The reason behind what we are doing matters. Are we doing it to take care of ourselves and others; or are we doing it to suppress our emotions and push away the events of the day?

Take a listen to this short and juicy episode all about the intent behind the behavior.

Show notes:

As the seasons change, so do our routines and schedules. Summer is in full swing and we should not feel guilty about our daily routines getting switched up either.

Roberta and Ashley are talking about what has changed with their daily routines as they are both home with their kids during the day.

Ashley touches on how her son's ADHD tendencies have changed the way she structures their routine charts to keep him more on track.

And they both talk about how they have been spending 10- 15 minutes of quality alone time with each kid to show how they are each special and significant in their lives while offering them choices. It has dramatically improved behaviors in the home and given them good insight as to what each child's primary love language is!
